We’re a small UK family business and we want every Hippo owner to be happy with their purchase. If something isn’t right, just get in touch and we’ll do our best to sort it.

30 Day Returns

We offer a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days from the day your order arrives to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must:

Be unused and in the same condition you received it
Be returned with all original parts, accessories and packaging
Include your receipt or proof of purchase

Damaged or Incorrect Items

Please check your order when it arrives.

If your item is damaged, faulty, or not what you ordered, contact us as soon as possible so we can sort it quickly.

Photos of the issue can really help us resolve things faster especially if the damage is down to neglectful couriers!

Non-Returnable Items

Some items cannot be returned, including:

Personal care products such as shampoos, conditioners or grooming products once opened
Custom made products
Sale items
Gift cards

If you’re unsure whether your item can be returned, feel free to ask before sending it back.

Exchanges

If you ordered the wrong item or want a different model, the quickest way is to:

Request a return for the original item
Place a new order for the item you would like instead

This ensures you get the replacement as quickly as possible.

14-Day Cooling Off Period

If your order is delivered within the European Union, you have the legal right to cancel or return your order within 14 days for any reason.

The item must still be:

Unused
In original condition
Returned with all packaging and parts
Accompanied by proof of purchase

The 14-day cancellation rights described above apply to consumer purchases only.

Orders placed by businesses or for commercial use may not qualify for these rights.

Returns & Refunds - Non UK (International) Orders

We ship Hippo Showers all over the world, from muddy yards to sunny dog-wash stations.

Because international shipping is a little more complicated, returns work slightly differently.

Change-of-Mind Returns

If you wish to return an international order, you must notify us within 14 days of receiving the goods.

Returned items must be:

• unused
• in original condition
• returned with all parts and packaging

For international returns, the customer is responsible for:

• all return shipping costs
• any customs duties or import charges

Original shipping costs are non-refundable for international orders.

Faulty Products

If your Hippo arrives damaged or develops a fault, please contact us as soon as possible with:

• photos of the issue
• a short description of the problem

Depending on the situation we may offer:

• replacement parts
• troubleshooting support
• repair
• replacement
• or refund

Unless agreed otherwise in writing, international customers are responsible for return shipping and any customs costs.

Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your return, we’ll let you know whether your refund has been approved.

If approved, your refund will be issued to your original payment method within 10 business days.

Please allow a little extra time for your bank or card provider to process the refund.

Additional Return Conditions for Hippo Showers

Because Hippo Showers are specialist equipment, a few additional conditions apply to ensure safety and product integrity.

Installed or Used Shower Units

Hippo Shower units (including gas and electric models) cannot be returned if they have been:

Installed or connected to a gas supply
Connected to water or plumbing systems
Used in any way

For safety and hygiene reasons, once a shower unit has been installed or used it cannot be resold and therefore cannot be returned unless faulty.

If you believe your shower unit is faulty, please contact us at info@hipposhowers.co.uk and we will help diagnose the issue and arrange repair, replacement or return where appropriate.

Missing Parts or Damage During Return

Returned items must include all original components, hoses, fittings, manuals and packaging.

If items are returned with missing parts, signs of use, or damage caused during return shipping, we may deduct an appropriate amount from the refund to cover replacement parts or loss in value.

Temporary Use / Event Purchases

Hippo Showers products are sold for permanent use. They are not available for short-term hire or temporary event use.

Items that show signs of use, installation, outdoor use, water connection, gas connection, or general wear consistent with short-term use will not be eligible for return unless they are faulty.

This includes situations where products have been purchased for:

Events
Shows or competitions
Camping trips
Temporary yard or stable use
Any short-term requirement

If a returned item shows evidence of use, the return may be refused or subject to a deduction for loss in value.

Return Shipping

Unless an item is faulty or sent in error, the cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the customer.

Because some Hippo Shower units are large or heavy, we recommend using a tracked and insured delivery service when returning items.

Hippo Showers cannot be responsible for items that are lost or damaged during return transit.

Fault Diagnosis

Sometimes issues with portable showers are caused by user error such as setup, gas supply, water pressure, or pump configuration rather than a product fault.

Before returning a unit, our Hippo team may first help troubleshoot the issue with you to resolve it quickly without the need for a return - and saving you money!

Shipping Rates

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order and the country you are in.

Because our products range from small accessories and grooming products through to larger Hippo Shower units, the shipping cost will vary depending on the size and weight of the items you purchase.

All shipping costs will be clearly shown at checkout before you complete your order.

Unless agreed otherwise in writing, international customers are responsible for any customs costs.

Order Processing Time

Orders for our smaller items such as the Bubbl-o and our grooming accessories are typically processed within 1–3 working days.

During busy periods this may take slightly longer, but we always aim to dispatch orders as quickly as possible.

Made to Order Products

Many of our OG Gas Hippo Shower units are handmade to order, rather than held in stock. For these products, the typical build and dispatch time frame is approximately 2–3 weeks.

This information is clearly stated on the relevant product pages, so customers know the expected lead time before placing an order.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation email.

If your order contains both made-to-order items and in-stock accessories, your items may be shipped separately.

Delivery Times

Delivery times can vary depending on the courier and your location, but typical UK delivery times are:

Standard UK delivery: 2–5 working days after dispatch

Please note that delivery time frames are estimates and not guarantees, particularly during busy periods such as holidays or major sales.

About Pink Micro-E Hippo Electric Shower - 3kw - Plug In

A little ‘plug and go’ electric shower - now in PINK!

A special limited edition run of only 100 showers - which we're hoping to sell to make LOADS of money for Redwings Horse Sanctuary.

You asked… and asked… so finally we’ve made a little electric shower. Now, the reason we previously said ‘no’ was because it’s impossible to get anywhere near the power of our gas showers in an electric one.

Why? Because plug sockets can only handle 3kw. To put this into context, our gas boilers are 16kw. That’s over 5 times more power than a plug socket can handle.

So, what did we do? We made the electric shower teeny tiny… and we made it so it warms the water, it doesn’t make it super hot. But hey, who washes with 70 degree water? No one! We only ever wash the animals in warm water anyway.

What do you need for the Micro-E Hippo Shower?

~ An electrical supply/plug socket that is suitable for 13amps (15amps with US plug), with RCD protection (aka a ‘trip switch’) and suitable earthing. This is standard for most plug sockets, but it mustn’t look like a teenager’s bedroom with 17 extension leads coming from it, 12 phone chargers, several lava lamps and an heated blanket etc - because the shower will draw 3kw of power from the plug.

~ The plug socket must also be a minimum of IP66 rated ( this is a normal 'waterproof' plug socket -safe for wet areas and outdoors - we can supply this as an option, if needed).

~ A water supply (eg a tap).~ A little screw or something to hang it from when in use.

What helps the Micro-E work best?

~ A spray head for your hose with a few settings, so you can find the one that works best (again, we can supply this as an option if needed, the hose heads come with the Hippo Hose)

~ Using the shower as close to the tap as possible, the shorter the hose, the warmer the water that comes out.What you can expect from your little Micro-E Hippo Shower.

You won’t get floods of hot water (if you want that, you need one of the LPG powered Hippo Showers, or a Maxi-E electric Hippo), but you will get a smaller flow of warm water. Whilst we tell people it’s most suited to rinsing off tails and legs, we get messages to tell us that whole horses have happily been washed with their Micro-E Shower. But, we still think, instead of a full horse wash (especially in the winter when the water coming from the tap is colder) that they’re more suited to smaller parts of the horse (or for washing dogs/making up feeds with warm water etc).

What do you get with the shower?

A touchscreen, portable shower unit, with brass fittings for the hot/cold hose attachment.
A 2 metre power cord.
A 12 month warranty.
An instruction manual.

There are also options to add one of our fabulous 25ft expandable hoses (including the spray head) which are not only the best hoses in the world (in our opinion, and we know a lot about hoses) but they can also help create water flow as they contract.

The 9-setting spray head is equally fabulous and can help you get the right pressure for washing. The hoses come with all brass fittings too.

Plus you can add an IP66 waterproof outdoor plug socket (although these are also easy to purchase from a local DIY store if you don’t already have one on your yard) but we can only currently supply these for the UK plugs. If you need an additional 'lead out' hose with brass fittings, you can order them via the 'spares' section of the website.

Meet The Hippo Family!

We are a little family business, based in deepest Fenland in South Lincolnshire.

When none of the other showers on the market measured up to what we needed, and weren't safe enough to ensure Mrs Hippo wouldn't burn the yard down, Hippo Showers were born.

It was our mission to make something SAFE and useable. We didn't want to join the (dangerous) trend of strapping a gas bottle onto a sack barrow, next to a boiler containing actual flames. There are too many of 'those' types on the market and they wouldn't pass a basic safety gas check!

Our (Patent Office protected) designs combined with our super self-igniting boilers with auto-protection means you're in safe hands!
